Originally built around 1900 as an oyster shack, by the time our clients had purchased it, it had repeatedly been damaged by flood waters. The house needed to be fixed or it would not survive. We set about to bring it into conformance with FEMA flood regulations while setting the spaces up for fun and entertaining.

 
 
An antique oyster shack got new life when it was lifted by 7.4 feet in order to meet FEMA flood regulations. The interior was opened up to create a home perfect for entertaining.
Accessed by only a footpath, the logistics of lifting this petite home were no small task.
All mechanical systems were updated and solar panels added to the roof.
New stairs connect the home to grade.

A Nanawall folding partition opens the Living Room up to the balcony.
Interior partitions were removed and the stair opened up to maximize a feeling of spaciousness. Clever storage is concealed by a operable bookcase.
A tiny Powder Room gets lots of personality with wallpaper and reclaimed wood.
Cable railings at the stair are visually light and a nautical nod to the waterfront location.
Simple forms create elegant details.
The renovated kitchen is full of color and ample counter space.
The second floor structure remains exposed at the first floor ceiling.
Upon entering the front door you can see all the way through to the view of the Mill Pond.
Open shelving, a retro inspired refrigerator, and reclaimed pine flooring all add to the quirky charm of this casual home.
A cathedral ceiling brings a feeling of spaciousness to the primary bedroom. Weathered wood and iron ties add a touch of rusticity.
A pair of Adirondack chairs capture a serene view.
New piers were wrapped in shingles and the bases were finished with pebble-dash stucco, using locally-source oyster shells.
